money money money. must be funny.
27 DAYS TO GO...
today was our payday. today is pay-my-bills day.
it's funny how money doesn't stay with you for a long time.
one minute you are withdrawing at the atm, the very next minute you are paying your debts and bills. by the time you get to your desk or workstation, you are just counting what is left after distributing your precious pesos to their respective budgets.
you swallow hard at the amount...your heart skips a beat - damn! you repeat counting, maybe you were wrong. same result, xxxx pesos. you curse at your fate of necessary slavery with a smile and blurted:
"ano ba tong pinaghihirapan kong kitain?!"
(what the hell am i working so hard for?!)
barya?!
(spare change)?!
an invisible balloon popped above your head:
"eh bakit ka pa nandito?"
(why are you still here?)

suddenly, the office becomes a musical production as everyone joins in the ranting like they don't have their own reasons to earn money. one will say that it makes him/her want to just stay at home since "wala naman nangyayari sa sahod ko" (my salary doesn't go anywhere), another will repeat a dramatic story about his/her breadwinnerhood that it has already reached legendary status at the office. the chorus will relatively agree as the antagonist makes his/her way through the crowd collecting payments for avon/lunch orders/triumph/natasha/paluwagan/5-6 loans/etc. the only thing missing is a dancing scene.
you scratch your head and laugh along at them.an invisible balloon popped above your head:
"eh bakit ka pa nandito?"
(why are you still here?)
